
Capital of Belize - Belmopan, one of the youngest cities in the world. Construction of the new Belize capital was started in 1970, after the devastating Hurricane Hatti, has caused considerable damage to the former capital of the country - Belize City. As a result, Belmopan construction began in 80 km south-east of the old capital, in the geographical center of the Belize country, much less prone to effects of the disaster.
